Rif Beitza 14a {Eruvin 40a continues; Beitza 25a resumes; 25b; 26a}

14a

{Eruvin 40a continues}
He said: This was certainly uprooted yesterday. What would you say {is problematic}? That it came from outside the techum? That which was brought for one Israelite {would be forbidden for him but} would be permitted for another Israelite, and certainly this, which was brought with a gentile in mind. Rava permitted them to purchase of those {turnips}. Once he saw that they were bringing them in large quantities, he prohibited them.

There were gardeners for whom gentiles {gentiles omitted in our gemara} cut myrtles on {Chavot Yair: the second, Exilic, day of} Yom Tov. When night fell, Ravina permitted them to smell of it immediately. They went and asked Rava. He said to them: we need to wait enough time for them to be made {=cut.}

{Beitza 25a resumes}

Rabba bar Rav Huna cited Rav: If someone plugged a canal of water from erev Yom Tov and the next day he arises early and discovered fish therein, they are permitted.
For they were already trapped from erev Yom Tov and thus were prepared {muchanin}.
And a wild animal which nested in an orchard, such as a ram, a gazelle, and the like, and they gave birth to young, which are still small and thus do not require trapping, they do not require designation, and they are permitted on Yom Tov.
And specifically in an orchard adjacent to the city, such that they are fit for him, for his mind is upon them, but by an orchard which is not adjacent to the city, we require designation.
And these words are regarding them {=the young}, but their mothers, since they require trapping, designation does not help.

Mishna:
A dangerously ill animal, one should not slaughter {on Yom Tov} unless one knows that he will be able to eat from it an olive's measure {=a minimum amount} roasted {which is quick cooking} while it is yet day {on Yom Tov}.
Rabbi Akiva says: Even an olive's measure raw from the place of slaughter {on the neck}.

If he slaughtered it in the field, he should not bring it {to his house} via a pole or a litter {carried by two people}, but rather he should bring it in his hand, limb by limb.

{Beitza 25b}
Gemara:

The Sages learnt {in a brayta}: A blind man may not go out with his stick, nor a shepherd with ihs pouch, nor may either a man or a woman go out on a seat {carried by others}.
And {regarding the seat} if the public needs him, it is permitted.

Mishna:

If a bechor {firstborn animal} fell into a pit:
{Note: a bechor which has no permanent blemish is muktzeh because it cannot be slaughtered on Yom Tov.}
Rabbi Yehuda says: An expert {checker of blemishes} should descend and see
{Beitza 26a}
-- if it has a blemish, they should lift it out and slaughter it, and if not, they should not slaughter.
Rabbi Shimon says: All whose blemish was not visible while it was yet day {on erev Yom Tov} is not considered prepared {muchan}.

Gemara:
In what do they argue? In whether we inspect for blemishes on Yom Tov is the point of their dispute.
Rabbi Yehuda held that we inspect for blemishes on Yom Tov.
And Rabbi Shimon held that we do not inspect for blemishes on Yom Tov.
And even though {in general} we establish that {in case of dispute between} Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Shimon, the halacha is like Rabbi Yehuda, in this we establish like Rabbi Shimon.
