Rif Gittin 32b {66a - b; 67a; 66a}

32b

{Gittin 66a}
Mishna:

IF A MAN HAD BEEN THROWN INTO A PIT AND CRIED OUT THAT WHOEVER HEARD HIS VOICE SHOULD WRITE A GET FOR HIS WIFE, THE GET SHOULD BE WRITTEN AND PRESENTED TO HER.

IF A MAN IN HEALTH SAYS, WRITE A GET FOR MY WIFE, HIS INTENTION IS MERELY TO PLAY WITH HER.

IT ONCE HAPPENED WITH A MAN IN GOOD HEALTH WHO SAID, WRITE A GET FOR MY WIFE, AND SHIMON BEN GAMLIEL SAID THAT IF HE HAD THROWN HIMSELF DOWN THIS WAS A GET, BUT IF THE WIND HAD BLOWN HIM OVER IT WAS NO GET.

Gemara:
"IT ONCE HAPPENED WITH A MAN IN GOOD HEALTH...":
An incident to contradict? The text is deficient and this is what it means to say: And if his end {conduct} proves his beginning {intention}, it is a valid get. And there was also an incident with a man in good health who said, etc.

A certain man went into the synagogue and found a teacher of children and his {=the certain man's} son sitting there and a third man sitting by them. He {=the teacher of children} said to them: I want two of you to write a get for my wife. At the end, the teacher of children died.
Does a man appoint a son as an agent in place of his father, or not?
Rav Nachman said: People do not make a son the agent in the place of his father. And Rav Pappa {our gemara: Rav Pappi} said: People do make a son the agent in the place of his father.
And the halacha is that people to make a son an agent in place of his father.

Mishna:
IF A MAN SAID TO TWO PERSONS, GIVE A GET TO MY WIFE,
{Gittin 66b}
OR TO THREE PERSONS, WRITE A GET AND GIVE IT TO MY WIFE, THEY SHOULD WRITE AND GIVE IT.

IF HE SAID TO THREE PERSONS, GIVE A GET TO MY WIFE, THEY MAY TELL OTHERS TO WRITE BECAUSE HE HAS MADE THEM A BET DIN. THIS IS THE VIEW OF R. MEIR --
AND THIS IS THE HALACHAH WHICH CHANINA A MAN OF ONO BROUGHT [FROM RABBI AKIVA IN] PRISON: 'I HAVE IT FROM MY TEACHERS THAT IF A MAN SAYS TO THREE PERSONS, GIVE A GET TO MY WIFE, THEY MAY TELL OTHERS TO WRITE IT, BECAUSE HE HAS CONSTITUTED THEM A BET DIN.
RABBI YOSSI SAID: WE SAID TO THE MESSENGER, WE ALSO HAVE IT ON TRADITION FROM OUR TEACHERS THAT EVEN IF HE SAID TO THE GREAT BET DIN IN JERUSALEM, 'GIVE A GET TO MY WIFE,' THEY SHOULD LEARN {how to write} AND WRITE AND GIVE IT {rather than telling others to write it}.

Gemara:
And the halacha is like Rabbi Yossi.
For {Gittin 67a} Shmuel cited Rabbi: The halacha is like Rabbi Yossi, who said that verbal instructions cannot be passed on to an agent.
And we also say {Gittin 66b}: Rabbi Yirmeyah {our gemara: Rabbi Yirmeyah bar Abba} said: They sent from the academy of Rav to Shmuel: Would our teacher inform us: If a man said to two persons, Write and deliver a get to my wife, and they told a scribe and he wrote it and they {themselves} signed it, what is the law?
He {=Shmuel} sent to them: She must leave {her second husband if she remarried}.
