Rif Yevamot 45a {Yevamot 119b - 120b}

45a

{Yevamot 119b}
Gemara:

She should not remarry not undergo yibbum.
And forever?
Zeiri says: For herself {just as any other widow}, three {months} and because of her fellow {=rival who might be pregnant, in which case chalitza will not suffice but rather the birth of the child exempts them both}, nine month. And then she performs chalitza because whatever your desire is {to claim the eventuality is} it will be satisfied.
Rabbi Chanina says: For herself, three. And because of her fellow, forever.
But let her perform chalitza to cover either eventuality!
(And behold) Abaya bar Avin and Rabbi Chanina bar Avin both say that it is a decree lest it is a viable child, such that she will require an announcement {that the chalitza was unnecessary} for marrying a kohen.
And let such an announcement be required?
Lest there be one who had the chalitza but not the announcement, and they will say that they permitted a women, who went through chalitza, to a kohen.
And the halacha is like Rabbi Chanina, for so have we established in perek haCholetz like him.

Mishna:

Two sisters-in-law {=the wives of two brothers}. This one says "my husband died" and that one says "my husband died." This one is forbidden because of the husband of that one, and that one is forbidden because of the husband of this one. {They are only believed regarding themselves, but not to help the sister-in-law.}

To this one there are witnesses that her husband died and to that one there are no witnesses that her husband died -- the one who has witnesses is forbidden because of the husband of that one {who has no witnesses}, and that one who does not have witnesses is permitted.

To this one there are children and to that one there are no children -- this one who has children is permitted, and that one who does not have children is forbidden.

If they underwent yibbum {with levirs other than the missing husbands} and they {=the levirs} died, they are forbidden to remarry. {since the testimony about themselves was enough to allow yibbum to happen, but not to allow the other one to marry a stranger, and so this doubtful levirate bond still stands in the way even after yibbum was performed.}
Rabbi Eleazar {or Eliezer} says: Since they permitted them to the levirs, they are permitted to anyone.

{Yevamot 120a}
They {=a witness} may only testify {that the person died} if there is the full face with the nose, even if there are signs on his body and clothing {that it is him}.
{Different girsa. See the Mishna in the gemara. This follows the Mishna in the Yerushalmi.}
They only testify {if they saw the body} within three days {of death}.
And even if they saw his arteries cut, or crucified {on a cross}, or a wild animal eating his, they do not testify about him until his soul departs.
Rabbi Yehuda ben Bava says: Not every man, nor every place, nor every time is the same.

Gemara:
The Sages learnt {in a brayta}: The forehead without the face, or the face without the forehead -- they do not testify until both are present together with the nose.
Abaye, and if you wish say Rav Kahana said: What is the verse? {Yeshaya 3:9}:
9 The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have wrought evil unto themselves.

"And even if there are signs in his body and clothing":
The Sages learnt {in a brayta}: They do not testify {that he died identifying him} bases on a mole. Rabbi Eleazar ben Mehavai says: They to testify based on a mole.

Rava said: All agree that signs are Rabbinic, and here, whether a mole is a supreme identifying mark is what they are arguing about. The Sages maintain that a mole is not a supreme identifying mark. Rabbi Eleazar ben Mehavai maintains that it is a supreme identifying mark.

{Yevamot 120b}

"and the wild animal eating him":
Rav Yehuda cited Shmuel: They only learned this where it was eating him in a place which would not cause his soul to depart, but from a place which would cause his soul to depart, they testify.
