Rif Ketubot 3b {Ketubot 9b; 10b} Belief About An Open Opening Claim; Excuses for Absence of Blood

3b

{Ketubot 9b}

Rav Yehuda cited Shmuel: If someone says "I found an open opening," he is believed to deprive her of her ketuba.
{Ketubot 10a}
Rav Nachman cited Shmuel in the name of Rabbi Shimon ben Eleazar: The Sages established for the daughters of Israel, for a virgin 200 and for a widow 100, and they lent him credence that if he said "I found an open opening," he is believed.
And if so, what did the Sages accomplish with their edict?
Rava said: It is an assumption that a man with not trouble himself to prepare the feast and then spoil it.

And we have seen that a Gaon {said} that this is in terms of the 100 or 200, but in terms of the addition, he is not believed. And there is an understable reason here, for the Sages only enacted the 100 vs. 200, but the addition, he wrote by himself. Therefore he is not believed.

There was one who came before Rav Nachman. He said to him, "I found an open opening."
Rav Nachman said to them: The harlots of Mabrachta lie prostrate before him. Lash him with palm-switches! {Since to have such experience to be able to determine this, he must have slept around.}
But it is Rav Nachman who said that he is believed?! He is believed, and is lashed with palm-switches.
Rav Achai learned: Here by a bachur {who should have no such experience} and here with one already married. A bachur is not experienced, while a married one is experienced,

There was one who came before Rabban Gamliel. He said to him, "I found an open opening."
He said to him: Perhaps you moved aside {and thus had intercourse without tearing the hymen}. I will relate to you a parable to what the matter is comparable -- to a man who went in the deep darkness of night {and came to a door}. If he moves aside {the bolt} he finds it open, if he does not move aside he finds is locked.

{Ketubot 10b}

There was one who came before Rabban Gamliel. He said to him, "I had intercourse and did not find blood."
She said to him: Rabbi, I am still a virgin.
He {=Rabban Gamliel} said to them: Bring forward two maidservants, one who is a non-virgin and one who is a virgin. They brought them before him, and he placed them upon a cask of wine. The virgin, the smell went through {and they could smell it on her breath}. The non-virgin, the smell went through. They {then} placed her {=the wife} on it and the smell did not go through.
He said to him: Go, you have done well with your acquisition.

And let him have initially inspected her {and not first relied upon the maidservants}. He had heard this as a tradition but had not seen it in practice, and he thought that the matter might not be certain, and it is not the proper way to deal lightly with the daughters of Israel to this extent {without first confirming the validity of the process}.

There was one who came before Rabban Gamliel the Edler. He said to him: I had intercourse and I did not find blood. She said to him: Rabbi, I was a complete virgin when I had intercourse, but I am from a family of Dorkati, who do not have neither virginal blood nor menstrual blood.
Rabban Gamliel investigated her relatives and found that it was as she spoke.
He {=Rabban Gamliel} said to him: Go, you have done well with your acquisition.
What is "Dorkati?" They taught: A cut off generation.
