{Rosh HaShana 34b}
Rabbi Yochanan said: If he heard 9 blowings at nine hours in the day, he fulfilled.
A brayta also says so: If he heard 9 blowings at nine hours in the day, he fulfilled.
From 9 different men at the same time, he did not fulfill.
A tekiah from this one and a teruah from that one, when they followed sequentially, he fulfilled. And even if he heard them intermittently, and even throughout the entire day.

And did Rabbi Yochanan indeed say this? But Rabbi Yochanan cited Rabbi Shimon ben Yehotzadak: by Hallel and by Megillah, if he delayed long enough to finish all of it, he returns to the head!

This is no difficulty. This is his own opinion and this is that of his teacher.
And we establish like Rabbi Yochanan who said that even nine hours in the day, he fulfilled. And by Hallel and Megillah as well, even thuogh he delayed long enough to finish it all, he does not need to return to the head, but rather he reads from where he interrupted.

The Sages learnt {in a brayta}: The blowings {tekiot in general, say, on a fast day} do not hold back each other {such that one does not fulfill without the other}, and the blessings do not hold back each other. The blowings on Rosh haShana and Yom Kippur hold back each other.

Why do Rosh HaShana and Yiom Kippur differ in this? Like Rava.
For Rava said: Hashem said to Israel: Say before Me on Rosh HaShana Malchuyot, Zichronot, and Shofarot; Malchuyot, so that you make Me king over you; Zichronot, so that your remembrance should arise before Me for good; And with what? With the Shofar.

"One who blessed {all of Musaf with Malchuyot, Zichronot and Shofarot} and afterwards got ahold of a shofar should blow tekiah teruah tekiah three times.":

The reason is that he {already} blessed {Musaf}. But if he had a shofar initially, when he hears them {the blasts}, he should hear them on the order of the blessings {of Malchuyot etc.}.

Rava said: They only said this in terms of a gathering of the community.
A brayta also says this: When he hears them, he should hear them in order and on the the order of the blessings. When are these words said? In terms of the congregation, but when in private, he should hear them in order but {need} not on the order of the blessings.

An individual {yachid} who does not blow, his fellow can blow for him. But an individual who does not bless {Malchuyot, etc.}, his fellow cannot bless for him. It is a mitzvah by the blowers more than the blessers. How so? Two cities -- in one they blow and in one they bless -- {and we do not know how to blow or bless} we go to the place where they blow and do not go to the place they bless.
